Conserve Earth's biodiversity: Harnessing Large Data

The Earth's biodiversity is under increasing threat due to human activities, climate change, and habitat loss. Harnessing data in conserving biodiversity is critical for maintaining ecological balance and ensuring the well-being of our planet. In this pursuit, data is a powerful tool to revolutionizing the way we conduct biodiversity research. By leveraging on data, scientists can uncover hidden patterns, predict species distributions, and advance conservation efforts. Biodiversity research generates massive amounts of data, ranging from ecological surveys and species occurrence records to remote sensing and genetic data. Machine learning algorithms excel at processing and analyzing vast datasets, enabling researchers to uncover complex patterns and relationships. By applying these algorithms to biodiversity data, scientists can extract valuable insights, detect species interactions, and unravel the intricate dynamics of ecosystems. Researchers can analyze large data at unprece...

My Data Analytics Career

Let me take you on a journey through my experience as a biologist and how learning data analysis, has transformed my career and outlook. It all started back in 2021, with a roommate who was always up-to-date with the latest trends. I noticed how he constantly sought to learn new things and often borrowed my laptop for his endeavors. One day, he mentioned taking courses in Python, and I couldn't help but ask why. His response, though I can't recall the exact words, intrigued me. He emphasized that Python would give me a competitive edge in the job market. That sparked my survival instinct and ignited a curiosity within me. As a biology major, I initially questioned the relevance of Python and data analysis in my field. However, driven by the desire to boost my employability and adapt to the changing landscape, I decided to explore it further. I enrolled in courses offered by IBM, earning digital certificates and gaining valuable skills along the way.  Fast forward to today, and ...
