Last Notes for 2023!!
I am not writing about data science today. Instead, I sit down to write onward plans with a heart brimming with excitement caused by the delightful meal I proudly crafted, which Mum really loved. Yes, I made it happen, and I can't help but chuckle at the achievement. Lolz.
As we stand on the threshold of 2024, my hopeful anticipation is for a year filled with everything good. I hope it takes us farther away from hell and brings us closer to a utopian state. The past months have unfolded with a myriad of speaking engagements and opportunities to influence and impact. In my two-plus years as a data analyst, this final half of the year has been marked by unprecedented deep dives into data analytics.
One resounding lesson has emerged – improvement is contingent upon setting certain foundations: Having a clear purpose, aiming for lofty goals, and actively avoiding stagnation in the hope that success will come to you. This realization is so in writing. Many admire skilled writers and can recognize great crafts, yet hesitate to wield the pen themselves. The irony lies in the fear of putting words on paper. To become a good writer, one must embrace the adage of "fake it till you make it." Start writing – be it a word, a sentence, or a page. Perfection is not the goal, and it likely never will be. "You have to start somewhere" – a universal truth, but the crux lies not just in starting but in recognizing where that 'somewhere' is for you. Learning is a continuous process, and the best starting point is where you are- Here!
In the grand game of life, defining moments occur when the realization of one's true desires sets in. As we navigate the upcoming year, I commit to sharing insights on statistics, data science, and ecology through frequent posts. My journey has been a constant quest for knowledge, and every day I realise that there's so much I do not know. Brace yourselves; I'll be delving into topics such as multivariate statistics, ordination, and modelling, particularly emphasizing multilevel modelling. These discussions will undoubtedly prove valuable to fellow data scientists and statistical ecologists. My excitement has often surged through my studies in quantitative ecology, and I can't help but marvel at the insights shared by Boccard and other great authors on numerical ecology. For those immersed in data science, statistics, statistical ecology, and research, I have a curated collection of books to share, a treasure trove of wisdom.
May you unearth the facets of your life that truly matter, propelling yourself forward with the courage born of self-awareness. Develop good habits, relish in them, study with fervour, write with the flair of a novelist, speak with purpose, and articulate the narrative of your life. Begin the journey that aligns with your dreams, meticulously recording the highs and lows of your ongoings, for learnings and growth.
